ABOUT US

My name is Tomoko Mori. I am Japanese and have lived in Europe for four decades. First, I went to Germany to study classical music, then, due to marriage and family, I moved south, where I now live mainly between South Tyrol and Lake Garda. Although far from home, I have always maintained close contacts with my homeland. This gave me the opportunity to see my country "from the outside" and, together with my husband's "architect's eyes", to rediscover Japan's traditional features that are still largely unknown in Europe. Through these experiences and the growing appreciation of such unique treasures, I became more and more concerned to "bring authentic delicacies, unadulterated values from my homeland, which are still little or insufficiently known abroad - such as the Japanese bathing culture - closer to sensitive people in Europe, so that they can get to know traditional Japan better and enjoy it".
Please do not hesitate to contact me for further information about these traditions and products.

MY NAME AS AN EXAMPLE OF CALLIGRAPHY
Japanese writing is composed of two types of graphic characters, syllables and symbols: hiragana and katakana are phonetic scripts, each character corresponding to a particular sound (syllable). Kanji, on the other hand, are pictograms, pictorial representations of the object thus designated. Other terms and words are formed from the combination of different kanji.
A simple and logical example of Japanese writing based on my family name Mori (it means forest):
the character for tree (ki) repeated times two means: grove, bush (hayashi) and times 3 becomes: forest (mori).

The composition of symbols is not always so simple and intuitive. The total number of kanji characters is about five thousand.
